Assistant Managing Clerk (Docket Clerk)

Compensation: $100,000–$115,000 base salary, bonus eligible

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Managing Clerk

Schedule: 12:00pm–8:00pm, with flexibility for additional hours

Work Model: Hybrid (on-site 1–2 days per week)

A plaintiffs’ securities litigation firm is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Managing Clerk to support the Managing Clerk’s Office. This role is critical to ensuring accurate court filings, deadline calculation, and docket management across multiple jurisdictions.

The ideal candidate thrives in a team-oriented environment, takes ownership of their work, and is comfortable making independent decisions while managing high-volume, deadline-driven responsibilities. Extensive knowledge of federal and state courts, rules of civil procedure, and electronic court filing systems is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, prepare, and file court documents in strict compliance with applicable court rules
  • Review, analyze, calculate, enter, and update court deadlines, case data, and docket information using docketing and calendaring software (e.g., CourtAlert)
  • Manage litigation calendars and deadlines using advanced docketing systems
  • Provide guidance to attorneys and legal staff on court rules and filing procedures
  • Coordinate service of process and liaise with outside vendors for document handling
  • Collaborate with legal teams to ensure all filing and deadline requirements are met
  • Assist with special projects as assigned by the Managing Clerk

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Managing Attorney’s or Clerk’s Office
  • OR
  • 5 years of litigation paralegal experience with substantial court filing and calendaring responsibilities
  • Strong ability to accurately calculate and manage deadlines in multiple jurisdictions, including federal, state, appellate, and arbitration matters

Knowledge & Skills

  • Proficiency with electronic court filing systems including PACER, NYSCEF, File & ServeXpress, and other state e-filing platforms
  • Experience with docketing and calendaring platforms such as MA3000, CourtAlert, or Compulaw
  • Ability to research and interpret court rules across jurisdictions and advise legal teams accordingly
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and see tasks through completion
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate case team needs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, Teams, Zoom, and modern web browsers
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
